This is a stunning piece of art. It rolls beautifully, the colours in the light blend together to create a sort of iridescent purple.
Really great dice. One of the highest quality metal dice i have
I will start off with the obvious: it's gorgeous, feels amazing, and makes you feel like you could slap this baby in a sling and bring down Goliath. I originally bought this (along with 3 matching d6's and the Forge Nightshade set) to DM my first book campaign, but they were so perfect I decided to risk using them in a campaign I'm a PC in where all of my dice rolls have been cursed for almost 6 months now. I don't really have D&D or dice superstitions (aside from always placing my one values down, or course. Don't want any of that pessimistic bad juju), but I have never, ever rolled so consistently bad. It was to the point where my entire group (7 people) were convinced that I was cursed. I bought new dice, used my husband's dice tower which I have staunchly scorned for the last 7 years, used spare sets that we save for when people forget their dice, had people blown on my dice before I rolled them, anything I could think of, to stop rolling 1's almost every other roll. Nothing worked. I finally decided to retired my character and try a new one, hoping that letting the poor, abused rogue find some peace would bring relief. But no. The horror continued on with every session starting out by rolling a Nat 1. Until these dice. These have been my salvation. On our last session, I got double Nat 20's on my attack rolls and rolled 46 out of 52 possible damage.
These dice have a superb blend of shiny and matte. The pinky-purple glitter is glossed, and the black of the numbers and edges is matte finish, and the contrast is so sharp and strangely satisfying to behold. Nightshade had been on my wanted list for a while for a reason, but just how enjoyable these are to look at took me by surprise even then. I really hope DHD does more dice with the matte black like this because I’m obsessed!
