Top Quality Sets!

I found them all to be reasonably priced, and also high quality compared to most polymer sets, along with a wide variety in the dice I purchased!

The Mystery Dice Were A Hit!

Now that we're past the holidays, I can share that my son loved both of the Mystery Dice sets he received in his stocking. Each set came in a highly durable case, and both sets were complete and seemingly without flaw. I've shared images of both sets side by side, and under blacklight (since sometimes dice present cool effects that can only be seen under UV). One mystery set was blue/pink, and the other had more of a bronze/silver theme. His initial d20 roll of the blue/pink was a natural 20! The first d20 roll of the bronze/silver was a natural 1. Exciting reactions all around!

On a more in-depth note: I prefer dice with sharper edges (the Dice Hard Dice Avalore series is my absolute favorite). This is because the painted-then-tumbled dice (those with smoother edges) can *sometimes* have discrepancies in uniformity and therefore, could lead to biased rolls over time. I played in a few games back in the early 2000s that nearly led to me abandoning TTRPGs because those old white Chessex dice rolled so poorly so consistently. It wasn't until many years later that I got a micrometer and found that those horrid white dice actually WERE the problem, with some having discrepancies of a whole millimeter or more.

We were curious about these dice, given my experience. So, I got out my trusty micrometer to do a few measurements. Unfortunately, I did find that the d20 in the blue/pink set had a pretty notable difference in dimension uniformity. One side-to-side measurement was 20mm, and a different side to side was 19.5 mm. The other set, I'm happy to note, were all very close to uniform dimensions! I'm not working in a lab setting, so my measurements may not be 100% accurate - and I understand that not everyone cares about these things the way I do - but when we let the dice decide our character's fates in stories that we've spent years telling, we want those dice to be as fair as possible. I would have doubts that the d20 in question won't have some bias when the rolls really matter.

But, that said, we're thrilled with Die Hard Dice and look forward to more purchases for years to come!
