Mothership Overview
Mothership is a newly released, Science Fiction Horror TTRPG created by Sean McCoy and released by Tuesday Knight Games. Mothership sites its inspirations from movies like Alien and Event Horizon, and it accomplishes its goals fantastically. Mothership is the perfect game to get your players on the edge of their seats, and send shivers down their spines.
Dice in Mothership
Mechanically, Mothership operates on a very simple premise. Your stats and saves are usually between 30 and 50, and when you make a check, you must roll UNDER your score when rolling a d00 (Two d10, one representing the 10s place and one representing the 1s place). If you roll OVER that stat or save score, you fail and gain 1 Stress. Gaining Stress makes you more likely to Panic when you’re put under pressure. That’s it. You basically know how Mothership works.
The Dice you’ll need to play your first game of Mothership are 2d10s and 1d20. Having one of your d10s be a d00, will make keeping track of the 10s and 1s place easier during the game.
What we Love
One thing we love about Mothership is the Game Master’s guide, the Warden’s Operations Manual. This short manual is filled to the brim with tips and tricks for running TTRPGs. While some of the content is Mothership specific, the majority of it is just good advice for running games in general. Whether you’re running a one-shot or planning a full campaign, we highly recommend looking at the Warden’s Operations Manual.
